Which Kamado Grills Fit the BBQUAR Trolley?

Before anything else, this is the key measurement that matters:

  • Opening diameter: 58cm
  • Height from base to opening: 32.5cm
  • Minimum hinge clearance: 33cm

What you need to check:
At 32.5cm up from the base of your grill, the diameter must be less than 58cm

If it is—your grill should fit.

You’ll also want to ensure that:

  • The base of the grill isn’t wider than 58cm
  • The grill can physically be lowered through the opening
  • The hinge mechanism sits above 33cm from its base (excluding feet)

If all three are met, your grill should fit securely within the trolley.

How the Grill Sits in the Trolley

Inside the BBQUAR trolley, the grill is supported by three adjustable sliders located on the internal base. These allow you to position the grill securely once it has been lowered into place.

The grill is installed from above, sitting neatly within the cut-out to create a clean, built-in appearance. This design keeps everything stable while allowing for minor adjustments during setup.

Installation Considerations

There are a few practical things to consider during installation:

  • The grill must be lowered through the top plate
  • On some models, it may help to remove the lid or top components during fitting
  • Any handles, vents, or add-ons that increase the width may need to be removed

Some Kamado grills feature side-mounted pellet or smoking chambers. Once installed in the trolley, these may become inaccessible, so it’s worth considering how you plan to use your grill before fitting.

The BBQUAR Kamado Trolley is designed to fit a wide range of Kamado grills with a maximum diameter of 58cm at 32.5cm above the base. If your grill meets this requirement, the base fits within the opening, and the hinge mechanism sits above 33cm, it should be compatible.

Important Fit Considerations

While the main dimensions are key, a few additional details can affect compatibility.

Hinge Clearance

The hinge mechanism must sit above 33cm from the base. If it sits lower, it will interfere with the top plate of the trolley.

Grills with larger or lower-mounted hinge systems—such as the Kamado Joe Classic II with Air Lift hinge—are not compatible with the current BBQUAR Kamado Trolley design.

At present, the Kamado Joe Classic I is the only compatible model in that range. We are currently working on a modified trolley that will accommodate larger and lower hinge designs.

Maximum Diameter Still Applies

Even if the hinge clears, the grill must still meet the core requirement:

Maximum diameter of 58cm at 32.5cm height

If the grill exceeds this at any point, it will not fit within the opening.

Removing Bases & Side Shelves

Many Kamado grills are supplied with:

  • Base stands
  • Side shelves or folding tables

These are not required when installing the grill into the BBQUAR trolley and will need to be removed beforehand.

If you are purchasing a new grill specifically for use with the trolley, we recommend choosing a grill-only configuration, without a base or side shelves.

Left or Right-Hand Setup

The BBQUAR Kamado Trolley is designed as standard with the grill positioned on the left-hand side.

However, the layout can be reversed if needed. With some disassembly and reassembly, the unit can be configured to place the grill on the right-hand side, allowing you to better suit your garden layout or preferred cooking flow.

Ensure you have checked your grill’s diameter at the point where it meets the trolley and not just at its widest part. Contact Us if you need assistance in confirming if your Kamado grill will fit our BBQUAR Kamado Trolley.

Confirmed Compatible Kamado Grills

These models have been physically tested with the BBQUAR Kamado Trolley and are confirmed to fit:

  • Big Green Egg – Large
  • The Bastard – VX Large (only)
  • Kamado Joe – Classic I (only)
  • Monolith – Classic

Additional Compatible Models (Based on Measurements)

The following models match the required dimensions and should fit, although they have not yet been physically tested:

  • MI 21″ Kamado Classic & Premium
  • Fresh Grills 21″ Kamado
  • Kamado Bono Media 20″
  • GoodHome Sagami 545

What If Your Grill Isn’t Listed?

If your Kamado isn’t on this list, don’t worry—it may still be compatible.

As long as:

  • The diameter at 32.5cm height is under 58cm
  • The base fits within the opening
  • There are no fixed protrusions preventing installation

…it should work.

If you’re unsure, you can always get in touch with your grill’s dimensions, and we’ll help confirm compatibility.

Looking for a Flat-Top Alternative?

If your Kamado grill is smaller—such as the Big Green Egg MiniMax—or you’re looking for a more flexible cooking surface, we also offer a flat-top version of the BBQUAR kitchen trolley.

Instead of a cut-out, this version features a solid work surface, making it ideal for compact grills, pizza ovens, or as a dedicated preparation area alongside your main cooking setup.

Better still, it’s designed to work as part of the same modular system. You can pair it with the Kamado trolley—or even a second flat-top unit—to create a larger outdoor kitchen with more workspace, storage, and flexibility.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right Kamado for your BBQUAR trolley comes down to a few key measurements—not guesswork.

By checking the diameter at the correct height and understanding how the grill fits into the unit, you can confidently select a model that integrates seamlessly into your outdoor kitchen setup.

How to Replace Glass in an RB73 Stove

Replacing glass in an RB73 stove depends on the model and location: door glass is removed using pop-out clips, while side and rear panels (on certain models) lift out or are unbolted first. In all cases, the new glass must sit perfectly flat with no wobble—there are no rope seals or tightening involved.
